Friends! I am excited that you are people with whom I can change the world...here, now, in our lifetime.
From now until December 31st, an organization that I support, Leadership Brainery (LB), is running a fundraising Campaign to raise $100,000! Why? Because #ChangeCantWait
LB works to close opportunity and wealth gaps by ensuring equitable access to postgraduate degree programs and high-impact careers for underrepresented candidates, which includes people of color, people with disabilities, individuals from a lower socioeconomic status, LGBTQ+ individuals and other demographics who have been systematically excluded from higher education.
This year, LB has accomplished a lot! As a growing startup organization, they have impressively...
- acquired and created a robust online platform out of Dear Future Colleague (DFC), an organization with over 500 graduate school and competitive scholarship mentors and 400 mentees from underrepresented backgrounds eligible for enrollment within the next two years;
- teamed up with 14 competitive graduate and professional schools offering collectively 300+ multidisciplinary master's and doctoral degrees—many offering scholarships, waivers, and deferment opportunities for LB community members;
- hosted their 3rd Annual Impact Summit, which brought together community stakeholders for a day of empowerment, networking, and recruitment, including a host of corporate supporters and special celebrity guest, Yara Shahidi (watch her speech);
- and supported a new cohort of 26 Ambassadors, who receive curated development, office hours, test preparation, and admission support.
I am so excited for what LB is up to and I know that many of us would have benefited from having this type of space and community when we were coming out of college. Let's make it possible for more folks to thrive!
